Nikolay Davydenko avoided losing to an Argentinian for the fourth straight year when he defeated David Nalbandian in four sets yesterday. After defeats to Guillermo Coria in 2004, Mariano Puerta in 2005 and Nalbandian in 2006, he broke the jinx on Sunday. Unfortunately for the Russian, another Argentinian, Guillermo Canas stands in his way in the quarter-finals.

By defeating Lleyton Hewitt, Rafael Nadal made it 18 straight wins at the French Open. He equals Ivan Lendl and Nicola Pietrangeli, who both won 18 straight here in Paris. Only Sergei Bruguera (19), Jim Courier (20) and the great Bjorn Borg (28) have done better!

30
The number of forehand winners hit by Fernando Verdasco against Novak Djokovic. Had he not made 50 unforced errors, he may have won. As it was, the Spaniard lost 6-3, 6-3, 7-6.

125
In defeating Marcos Baghdatis, Igor Andreev (currently ranked 125 in the world), became the lowest ranked player to reach the last eight in Paris since Marcelo Filippini (140th) in 1999.
